Busy Busy!

My apologies for neglecting to post in a while! It has been a busy few weeks. Last weekend Bill moved into his new house. We spent all day Friday painting the kids' rooms. Merit wanted pink, and pink. That's two different shades of pink...both of which turned out a lot darker than we thought they would! Oops. Luke wanted blue and lime green. We also painted the playroom a kind of khaki/sand color. All the rooms turned out really nice. Don't have pics handy but I'll post some later.

On Friday we also rented a machine to dig holes for two fence posts. We needed to add an 8-foot section of fence to the front of the house so that the dogs wouldn't escape over the low brick wall. We poured the concrete and set the poles in on Friday.

Saturday brought the movers and all the stuff to the house....as well as Bill's ex wife and her boyfriend, along with the kids. This was a complete surprise to us---apparently they wanted to drive by and then the kids wanted to see their rooms. It was really weird and awkward but not unpleasant...everyone was nice if also uncomfortable! I told Bill after they left that I'll take 10 years of awkward pleasantness over one or two really bad confrontations any day. It was only the second time I've met his ex and the first time to meet her honey. All in all it was weird but not bad.

Saturday also brought an unpleasant surprise in the form of major plumbing problems. In the attached picture you can see on the left hand side that some idiot thought it would be a great idea to plant a holly bush right in front of the house, right over the sewer lines. Said holly bush is now growing roots into the plumbing lines. It will have to go and there is a lot of (expensive) work that has to be done. Booooooo. There is also a chance that the work to be done will kill the large beautiful, old tree in the front (I am not that good at identifying trees but it might be an oak or a maple). We're crossing our fingers that the tree will survive.

We got a lot of stuff put away and unpacked on Saturday. On Sunday we finished building the fence. It actually was a lot easier and faster than I thought it would be.

I'm suffering from a nasty sinus infection...it's been mildly annoying/bothering me for about two months and making me absolutely miserable for about two weeks. I saw Dr. Kirkham yesterday and he put me on another antibiotic and some spray/flusher stuff and I go back to get "scoped" in two weeks. Bleeeeeh. I won't get too gross by going into details but the gist of it is that I don't understand how I can be completely stuffed up, and yet pouring snot at the same time. My mom also saw Dr. Kirkham yesterday and has another nodule on her vocal chords, she is set for yet another surgery on August 26th. Boooooo again.

Lots of craziness, I tell you! This post is kind of a downer, I'll post some happy stuff very shortly.
